
I recently encountered an idea from an ethologist that animals, in fact, resemble us more emotionally than intellectually, but if animals could write in their own voice, I am certain these are the stories they would tell. Kolluri gives her narrators a depth of feeling through an understanding of language limited to their own experience. It's a testament to any sentient's ability for empathy, and it put my own through the ringer, especially with the polar bear's and whale's story. [Blanca]
