Rock memoirs are usually salacious and scandalous, or at least try desperately to be so. Carrie Brownstein's isn't. It is wise and generous. She looks at her history in music and with Sleater-Kinney with a mature sense of awareness and the wit made evident in her work writing and starring in Portlandia. Any fan of any era of her career will like this book, but so will anyone fascinated by the music in the Northwest. [Kenny]
