Tacoma Wayzfaring Press: Letterpress Printing for the Pandemic

10/13/2020 - 11:00am to 4:00pm

The pandemic derailed our traditional Tacoma Wayzgoose, the annual letterpress and book arts festival, but we are back in a new iteration! Tacoma Wayzfaring Press is a traveling press and letterpress demonstration. It will start at King’s Books. From October 13-17, from 11-4 each day. Different artists will work in our front window producing a print. Bystanders can watch the process on the sidewalk outside the bookstore. The artists' work will be available for sale the day of the event. Here is our schedule:

Oct 13: Taylor Cox of Coxswain Press
Oct 14: Katie Dean
Oct 15: Write 253
Oct 16: Jessica Spring of Springtide Press
Oct 17: Gloria Joy Muhammad and Saiyare Refaei

Join us outside the bookstore to watch the process. If you are attending in person, please wear a mask and practice social distancing. If you are feeling sick or unwell, please help keep our community safe and stay home. If you are unable to attend in person, follow along with the printing  on Instagram.

Thereafter the press will travel to different artists for a week-long residency. Follow us on Instagram to check the progress of the press. This event is sponsored by the Tacoma Arts Commission.
