Michael Magee will read from a new collection of poems inspired by the photography of Jeff Acorn, Vanishing Points: from Ballarat to Ravenna Park. Dramatic visuals serve as a backdrop for this collection of poems and photographs in black and white from ghost towns in the West and settings in the Northwest. He will also read from Dementia: Love is a Blur, a poem cycle of lyric poems. He will be reading and signing books.
Michael Magee is a poet and playwright. He has written for radio, movies and dance. His previous collaboration was with photographer Peter Serko: 20/20: Tacoma in Images and Verse, a collection of poetry and photography. His first collection of poetry: Cinders of My Better Angels was published by MoonPath Press. The current collection comes in response to Jeff Acorn's photos which triggered a series of poems - most of which appear here. He and Jeff go back to 1963 when they shared rooms at the back of a house on Mercer Street in Seattle. They have continued their friendship and continue to influence each other through their travels in words and pictures.
