Alec Clayton Book Talk

10/04/2018 - 7:00pm

Join us as we celebrate the release of This Is Me, Debbi, David, the new novel from Alec Clayton. Debbi Mason is a self-declared loudmouth, fun loving, rabble rousing, perverse woman. David Parker says he has always been something of a nebbish little mama's boy who never took a chance on anything in his entire life. When Debbi breaks up with David and runs off with a man she thinks can provide wealth and security, Debbi and David each embark on adventures that are, in turn, romantic, funny, enlightening and scary-adventures that take them from the French Quarter in New Orleans, to Dallas, and to New York City's East Village. And into their own hearts. Novel with nine bonus short stories.

Alec Clayton was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and grew up there and in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. His writing career began in New York City, where he edited a weekly newspaper from 1974 to 1977. In the summer of 1977 (the summer when fellow Tupelo native Elvis Presley died), Alec and his wife, Gabi, moved back to Hattiesburg where they published Mississippi Arts & Letters. They moved to Olympia, Washington in 1988. Alec has since been an editor and writer for periodicals including The News Tribune and the Weekly Volcano in Tacoma and Oly Arts in Olympia. The Claytons continue to live in Olympia and are the founders of Mud Flat Press.
