This is a Western by way of Australia but reminiscent of our own history of geography and genocide. Its rendering of grief and guilt sticks with you. [Raissa]

This book is small but it's packed with wisdom. These short lessons will revolutionize how you see your loved ones. Full of new ideas as well as reminders. [Karen]
In this epic there's room under the sky for characters taciturn and loyal, loving and illogical, searching, settling, surviving. If you read only one Western, this should be it. [Raissa]
A funny and moving debut that has a lot to say about our families—chosen and otherwise. [Karen]
Tracy K. Smith taught me how to love poetry. Wade in the Water is her first new book of poems since Life on Mars won a Pulitzer Prize. Buy these poems. Make a home for them. Love them. [Kenny]
A once-in-a-lifetime kind of book. Frank & full of love & forceful & free. Over & over this book made me stop in my tracks—completely stunned by its beauty. [Kenny]
Beverly Jenkins is a great historical novelist, and she likes to highlight overlooked stories. So educational!
I tore through this book of poems. Deep and heartfelt, Sotelo's work resonates with me as a woman but also speak to the larger human experience. [Karen]
It's winter in Winnipeg and this book literally comes with a trigger warning for violence. It's a gritty novel, and there are no easy solutions for these Indigenous women. If you like intergenerational stories that explore resiliency and love, are emotionally demanding, and told with great depth, try The Break. The story will stick with you, as it has with me. [Tanya]
The payoff is sooooo satisfying. Strong focus on character development and I'm honestly still thinking about Penny and Sam all the time. Choi wanted to write a YA book about a blossoming friendship where "high-key nothing happens"—much of the book unfolds through texting (which is written exceptionally well, not forced LiKe 0Mgz at all)—and I'm maybe obsessed. Introverts and millennials will especially enjoy this contemporary, dual perspective novel, which also touches on anxiety, awkwardness, and class. It's a lighthearted but not fluffy read. I loved this. [Tanya]
