This workshop is for anyone who wants, or needs, to get writing, but never seems to get anything on the page. Join facilitators Jennifer J Wilhoit Ph.D. and Brenda Fantroy-Johnson for writing tips, simple practices, suggestions, brainstorming for your unique project, as well as hands-on experience to get words to accumulate on the page. Students will leave the workshop with practical tools for navigating the writing project and the writing process. Workshop is $30, please RSVP. Stay after the event for a reading from the facilitators!
You will learn from the perspectives of:
1.) A writing mentor and seasoned author who offers creative, earth-based practices to structure and support the writing, as well as the writer’s life, and
2.) A writing mentee who hired her and then navigated a lot of “life” while beginning, laboring through, completing, and publishing her memoir.
Jennifer J. Wilhoit Ph.D. is a spiritual ecologist, the founder of TEALarbor stories, and an author who primarily writes about the inner/outer landscape. She has published three nonfiction books including Writing on the Landscape: Essays and Practices to Write, Roam, Renew; dozens of articles, book chapters, essays, newspaper articles, and guest blogs; and keeps her own blog. She’s currently working on two more book projects.
Brenda Fantroy-Johnson is the author of Imagine Me, a compelling memoir about growing up amidst loss, tragedy, and abandonment in the ghetto of 1960s Detroit. Through faith, education, and tenacity, she has overcome extreme obstacles. Brenda is currently working on her second book, a novel. Her day job is working as a manager in computer security. Brenda hired Jennifer to mentor her through the process of writing her memoir and they became dear friends through this time together.
