Jessica Bender (Seattle)  -  Nov. 13

hand-printed linens

Bender is an artist currently nursing a broken clavicle by feeding it horror movies, matzo ball soup and loving thoughts.  You can see her latest installation work in the Wait...Where Am I? show at Tacoma Contemporary's Woolworth windows in Tacoma.  Oct. 9 2010 - Jan. 5th.  Her crafting adventures occur under the moniker Cabinet713.

Laurie Cinotto of La La Laurie (Tacoma)  -  Nov. 13 & 14

Flowers, garlands, cards, birdcages - all from paper.

Cinotto is a co-founder of Soil.  She has also exhibited at the King County Art Gallery, at Tacoma Contemporary and at the John Erickson Museum of Art, now located in Gainesville, Florida.  Laurie Cinotto is the force behind The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee blog.  A book of her paper creations is due for release in 2011!

Kerry Cole of Kerry Cole Fine Art (Tacoma)  -  Nov. 14

original art, giclée prints, hand-crafted embellished greeting cards

Cole began her professional art career with her first drawing while studying Fashion Design at Portland State University.  Since then, a litany of exhibitions has followed where she has developed her distinctive style and reputation.  Her active imagination and offbeat perspective are fertile ground for creating images that emerge into her distinct Outsider style. By mingling figures from reality with myth, her paintings and drawings have an allegorical feel.  Her work continues to evolve and her goal to connect people and their feelings through her art remains in focus.

Jenny Craig of Notta Pixie Press (Seattle)  -  Nov. 13

letterpress broadsides, cards & artist books, pewter goods

Craig studied Book Arts at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and in Seattle at Day Moon Press on Beacon Hill.  She is a Book Artist and Librarian working out of Seattle.  Her work wavers between general amusement at the antics of household objects and experiments with ink and paper.

Maddy DuMont of Blue Cloud Design (Seattle) - Nov. 13

pewter pendants and pins

DuMont works with the Pewterers Guild under the moniker Spike.  She makes her pewter goods using Medieval methods and in imitation of Medieval finds.  The cast designs are displayed as jewelry and ornaments.  She will also have her molds (hand-carved soapstone) and tools on-display.

Krystal Kerr of DEVIANTdecor (Seattle) - Nov. 13 & 14

Victorian framed objects, miniatures and oddities.

The inspiration for DEVIANTdecor came from Kerr's work as a Fine Art Photographer.  After focusing her energy photographing objects she encountered or collected, she realized the objects were just sitting around in boxes.  Thus DEVIANTdecor was born.  She uses mostly vintage brass frames with a fabric background to mount unique found objects onto it.  The objects range from miniature animal head mounts, guns, sea creatures, insects and real skulls, vintage telephones, and sewing machines!

Ryan Loiselle of Loiselle Design (Tacoma)  -  Nov. 14

Tacoma-themed t-shirts and hoodies, postcards, and decals

Lori Meyer of Parisienne Girl Designs (Federal Way)  -  Nov. 14

Posh vintage, estate style and urban glam jewelry

Meyer focuses on upcycling vintage glass jewels from the 1930s, 40s and 50s.  She's in love with the romance and history of vintage items and finds joy in re-imagining them in new creations for today.

Chandler O’Leary of Anagram Press (Tacoma)  -  Nov. 13

illustration, letterpress printing, artist books

O'Leary is a 2003 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), with a BFA in Illustration and a year in Rome under her belt. Her work includes artist books, illustration, graphic design, textiles, letterpress printing, and drawing, to name a few. Her books and prints are collected and exhibited internationally. Chandler lives and creates art full-time in Tacoma.

Patrice Paty-Balsiger of 1 Bead At a Time (Lakewood)  -  Nov. 13

jewelry, steampunk jewelry, collage

Patrice started making necklaces in 2007 after being intrigued by the jewelry a friend at work was making.  She took several classes at her awesome local store, The Bead Factory, and uses creating jewelry as a counterpoint to her demanding job working with foster care youth at a mental health agency.  Because she is allergic to a lot of metals and because she makes jewelry mostly with base metals and found objects, she never knows which pieces of jewelry were ones she will be able to wear until they were complete, leaving her with a lot of pieces to sell!

Sarah Pea (Tacoma) - Nov. 14

pillows, wallets, shoulder bags

Pea makes her hand-crafted items mostly with recycled or vintage fabrics.

Scott & Jacqui Scoggin of Slide Sideways (Seattle) Nov. 13 & 14

silk-screened posters, tea towels, zip pouches, sketchbooks, cards

Founded in Seattle in 2008, this creative studio has a love for handmade objects, combining Scott's talent for illustration and typography with Jacqui's obsession with pattern, color and design to create fun products for your home and office.  Every detail is always carefully considered and hand-crafted.  Everything they make comes out of a love of crafting; which means they take no shortcuts. Every piece of fabric has been cut and screen printed by hand, then is sewn together on Jacqui's trusty Singer. hey seek to create a high quality product that you will proudly display in your home, but they also want to keep their environmental footprint as small as possible. But, mostly, they hope their designs make you feel good and bring a smile to your face.
