Less a collection of science fiction royalty (although Ursula K Le Guin is included), more a multicultural snapshot of great speculative fiction stories written by women. A must for anyone who likes challenging fiction! (sweet pea)

Why this novel isn't in the pantheon of classics confounds me. Brilliant. Illuminating. Inspirational in parts, disheartening in others. An interesting slice of Harlem in the 1940s. (sweet pea)
This meek milliner lives a solitary life...until a crow steals her exquisite bonnet. Then, then she is offered help from cowboys, mimes, jockeys, and a little girl. Maybe having friends isn't so bad after all? (sweet pea)
You're probably thinking, "Hmm. Not for me." That's just because you've never received a text message from William Blake. Or Emily Dickinson. Hilarious text conversations from your favorite authors & literary characters that will make you chortle, if not snort. (sweet pea)
Horrifying...ly awesome! While there are some specimens intentionally humorous, most were just done by people who had no clue what they were doing. Sick fun. (sweet pea)
53 writers pay homage to their favorite bars, from dives to upscale, from Seattle to Antarctica. A literary collection of bar culture for anyone who enjoys a tipple. (sweet pea)
Choose Your Own Adventure is back! Except in this version it is more
twisted, disturbing, and sad. Cat hoarders! Suicide! Drinking!
Squirrels! Sex! Violence! Not for kids, but definitely for fun! (sweet pea)
Kamala Khan is a welcome, and much needed, addition to the superhero canon. A normal teenager, she has to figure out how to use her powers, but also her identity and image (a burkini!). Plus it's an interesting way to explore race and religion. (sweet pea)
This novel is a slow simmer that comes to a furious boil for the last quarter. A unique, and freaky, take on the crime novel. Beukes is one of my favorite authors. She leaves me breathless and wanting more. Plus, such great characters! (sweet pea)
Madcap ridiculous fun! Flying squids! Drugs! Dwarves! Candy! Elves! An atheist cleric! Candy! And lots of violence. It's hard to hate the Rat Queens. They're too awesome.
