Nicole

I was the chubby kid you knew from grade school who spent weekends flying through books and joining local reading competitions. I’m drawn to fiction that surprises me and non fiction that leaves me breathless. As a writer, I’m also a sucker for experimental prose and poetry. I LOVE: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Flannery O’Connor, William Faulkner, Matthea Harvey, Harryette Mullen, Elissa Washuta, and Hunter S. Thompson.

I want to carry Layli Long Soldier's book WHEREAS with me everywhere I go. Language is the "oil on the surface"- a doorway in which Long Soldier experiments with syntax in brilliant and heartbreaking ways as she negotiates the politics of land and of the body. This poetry collection is a personal and political necessity for 2017. Nicole
